| Hey Everybody,
Would you all tell us what are the different ways of organizing potluck dinners, and or any special event THEMES, narratives, games, or fun reasons (EXCUSES) that successfully get people to attend? Lets get this thread rocking with all kinds of ideas. Cordially, Tony |

| our best attended open house was when we had grant funding for a special project and we were able to provide free dinner (one time we had pizza for everyone, another time we had hamburgers/hot dogs for everyone, and members could optionally bring dessert, salad, etc.). General pot luck dinners are fairly well attended, espeically when there is an international theme of folks bringing dishes from their home country or ethnic heritage. | ||

| The Woodstock crowd loves to dance! We've had a Cajun Band along with dance lessons and on another occasion we had a DJ. Both times were great turnouts.
We did a Share-Fair similar to the one in Madison at the conference. That was a lot of fun and fairly well-attended despite a blizzard outside. This fall our new women's singing group, The Beltane Babes, is sponsoring a singing night. We're playing with the idea of people sponsoring the monthly events, since we've never been able to recruit an Events Coordinator. Kristine Flones Woodstock TimeBank |

Check out the links...... ----- Original Message ----- From: Renee Staton Subject: PARK(ing) Day 2008! I love this idea. I think we may do it in my neighborhood. The links in the e-mail below have more information. Renee http://pinehurstcommunity.blogspot.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 25 Jul 2008 16:26:20 -0700 From: becca@feetfirst.info Subject: [Feet_First] Join Feet First for PARK(ing) Day 2008! Do you like parks? Would you like more parks in your neighborhood? Join Feet First and others for PARK(ing) Day! Help imagine and build a greener, more livable city by being a part of PARK(ing) Day on September 19th 2008. PARK(ing) day started in San Francisco with the artist collective REBAR. It’s motivated by the realization that a metered parking space is a short-term lease of public land, and doesn’t necessarily need to be used for storage of a personal vehicle. Instead, on PARK(ing) Day, parking spaces all over the world are transformed by organizations and neighbors into temporary public parks. Last year over 200 parks were created in fifty cities around the world, including Seattle. IF YOU’D LIKE TO PARTICIPATE AND ARE PART OF AN ORGANIZATION: Go to http://www.feetfirst.info/files/reclaiming-a-park-ing-space to read more and fill out this form: http://www.feetfirst.info/files/PARK%28ing%29%20Day%20Organization%20Sign-7-24-08.pdf. IF YOU’D LIKE TO PARTICIPATE AND ARE AN INDIVIDUAL: If you are an individual and want to take part, email ellie@feetfirst.info with your name, email, phone number, the neighborhood or location you would like your PARK(ing) spot to be in, and whether you can organize a space yourself or simply want to participate. We’ll take it from there. THEN COME TO THE FEET FIRST PARK(ing) DAY WORKSHOP! Come to the Feet First PARK(ing) Day workshop on August 13th to learn more about creative ideas for your PARK(ing) spot, resources, permitting, and to nail down other specifics like location. Full details: PARK(ing) Day workshop August 13th 6pm to 7:30 pm Triad Urban Center 701 3rd Ave Seattle, WA 98104 Questions: 206.652.2310 Background The Trust for Public Lands has taken the project on nationally, and Feet First is working with TPL and the Parks Foundation to mobilize community organizations, businesses and residents to participate here in Seattle. Park(ing) Day is not only a great chance to support a greener and more livable city, it’s a great chance to connect with your local community one curious onlooker at a time. A park(ing) spot park is a whole lot of fun and a true conversation starter, in the best meaning of those words.
