| The TimeBanks database is made up of several individual timebank communities. Every individual member of each community has to have at least one piece of information in their profile that is unique from every other member in the entire database so the system can tell them apart. In this case it’s the member email address.
On occasion, you may be trying to add or change an email address and get an error message indicating it already exists. That means this email has been used somewhere in the entire TimeBanks database (not necessarily within your own timebank community). This usually occurs either when the member has already joined another timebank (for demo purposes, or perhaps just another local timebank), or when the member has unintentionally created their own timebank instead of joining an existing one. Take the following steps, in the order listed, to resolve this error: 1. The Coordinator for the timebank the member wishes to belong to can conduct a search of the records in their own timebank in an attempt to locate this email address and change it to something else or remove it altogether. After that, the desired email address can be entered into the member’s profile. 2. If the Coordinator is unable to locate this email, they can contact technical support (click the Help button, upper right) and submit a request for assistance using the form on that page. Once support personnel have found and updated the email, the Coordinator will be notified that they can proceed with their update. |

| We had several families where multiple people used the same email address. Here is a simple solution to this problem from Jen Moore!
Most e-mail programs allow you to set up an alias or a forwarding e-mail address so that you can have multiple e-mail "addresses" that go to the same account. This would be a fix for Community Weaver, which otherwise wouldn't allow the same e-mail address to be used for more than one person. |
