| Hi everyone! I received 2 emails recently from folks asking really good questions about tb start-ups. I have so much going on that I am unable to provide a thorough response in writing, so I thought I'd post the questions here in case anyone has time to help with some of them. This is the second set, different from the ones I just posted a minute ago:
(1) How is your organization structured? Volunteers, salaried, mix, etc (2) How are you funded? (3) How are you governed? Board, City Council, etc (4) How long has your organization been in operation? (5) How many members in your organization? And how has that trend been over the last five years? Growing, declining, about the same? (6) What is the population of the area your organization covers (7) Do you have any limitations about joining the membership? (8) What was your biggest obstacle, if any, in getting established? (9) What has been successful, and not so successful? In other words, if you could offer someone just establishing a time bank, what should they avoid or absolutely must do to succeed. (10) Do you have any particular strategies for including the Aged, Disabled, youths, refugees and/or Immigrants? (11) Do you have any going concerns now? (12) Has your organization ever computed what 1 hour of Time Bank dollars would be computed in real dollars? If so, how was that computed? |

| I'm in the process of starting a TimeBank right now and have found some resources to be very helpful. On the community weaver website there is a section you can click on to find a list of TimeBanks (go to www.community.timebanks.org) and each lists the number of current members. The Dane County TB has a website that has all kinds of resources on it. Maine does as well although you may have to google them.
I learned a lot by reading the newspaper articles written about different TimeBanks and clicking on a lot of posts to entire Forum section. Have fun Chris |
